KENNEDY SWORN IN, NEW ERA BEGINS
John F. Kennedy settles into office as the 35th President of the United States, the youngest man and the first Roman Catholic ever elected to the office. Scenes show highlights of the ceremonials and celebrations in the capital as Mr. Kennedy takes office, starting with his smiling reception by Mr. Eisenhower at the White House. Despite a paralyzing blizzard, hundreds of thousands are outside the capital as Vice-President Lyndon Johnson and Mr. Kennedy are sworn into office. Then, with Mrs. Kennedy looking proudly on, John F. Kennedy delivers his brief but stirring inaugural message. After lunch, the official party moves to the White House to review the thrilling three and a half hour inaugural parade. That night, President Kennedy makes the rounds of five gala inaugural balls, capping off a dazzling two and a half days that mark the beginning of a new era for the nation under the leadership of the first President born in the twentieth century."
